Central Catch-up
In July 2020 the government announced catch-up funding for every school stating “Children and young people across the country have experienced unprecedented disruption to their education as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19). Those from the most vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds will be among those hardest hit. The aggregate impact of lost time in education will be substantial, and the scale of our response must match the scale of the challenge.”
For 2020-2021, Central were allocated: £34,960 and for 2021-2022, Central were allocated: £12,360
Catch up focused on the core subjects, Reading, Writing, Maths. The overall aims of our catch-up premium strategy, was:
- To reduce the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils (PPG) and their peers
- To raise the attainment of all pupils to close any identified gap created by COVID-19 school closures
How Central spent the money
- Small group/1-1 interventions during the school day
- Supporting wave 1 teaching
- Support for social, emotional and mental health
- Transition support
- Resources to support catch-up
How the effect of this expenditure on the educational attainment of those pupils at the school was assessed
- Assessments data was used to baseline any additional support and compared with data at the end of the support.
- Tracking of individual's social, emotional, mental health needs
